With an impressive annual revenue of circa £30 million and a dedicated team of over 200 employees, this company has created a substantial name for themselves in the e-commerce sector. Known for its exceptional user experience and dedicated customer service, the marketplace has built a loyal community and maintains a strong reputation within its industry.

The Role

The CFO will be a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. This role demands a seasoned finance professional with strategic foresight and strong operational expertise. Acting as a true business partner, the CFO will ensure finance is a front office function, collaborating with the rest of the C-Suite, managing key stakeholders, and reporting to the Board. The CFO will implement the long-term financial strategy, ensuring operational excellence and robust financial management. This includes budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financial leadership within a fast-paced, digital marketplace environment.

Skills

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO in developing and implementing the company's long-term growth strategy.
  • Ownership of FP&A including the financial model, detailed forecasting and creation of accurate budgets
  • Be a key and accountable member of the leadership team and play a role in reporting to the Board.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the company's financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Oversee risk management activities, including insurance, investments, and external audits.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors and auditors,
  • Full ownership and oversight of day-to-day finance
  • Ensure appropriate cash flow forecasting for the business’s operations.
  • Develop an outward facing finance function where finance is a real partner to all departments and not just a ‘back-office function’.

What we need to see:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA status
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels with gravitas.
  • 5+ years finance leadership experience in high-growth scale-up environment.
  • Proven experience in scaling finance teams to drive improved efficiencies and customer experience.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Very high level of commercial acumen with a proven track record of developing and implementing long term financial strategy.
  • Highly collaborative and strong business partnering skills with the ability to build relationship with colleagues across different departments.
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to be hands-on in your approach when necessary.

What We Would Like to See:

  • Experience acting as a finance leader within an online marketplace environment.
  • Experience working in a PE/VC backed environment.

Package

£185,000 - £225,000 + bonus + equity
